Amy Rutherford

Amy Rutherford began her ceramics journey at the University of Sunderland, where she earned first-class honors in Glass and Ceramics. While leading workshops in the community, Amy discovered a passion for teaching that matched her love for pottery. This inspired her to pursue a PGCE in primary education.

With over 10 years of experience in ceramics, Amy now runs her own independent ceramics business in the North East of England. She offers workshops for both adults and children, in addition to creating and selling her own beautiful pieces.

Amy’s creations are designed with a classic, timeless feel, bringing quality, handmade craftsmanship into your home. She hopes her ceramics become a cherished part of your daily rituals, enhancing your everyday life.

Each of Amy’s pieces begins its journey on the potter’s wheel, crafted from either stoneware or porcelain clay. Once the piece reaches the leather-hard stage, she meticulously trims and perfects it before it undergoes bisque firing. After that, it’s glaze-fired to achieve its final, beautiful form.
